How do you remove the coating once it has been softened?

You can use a scraper, steel scouring ball, nylon scourer or pressure washer depending on type of coating, thickness etc. A long handed blade scraper is recommended for removing artex as it cuts through the the plaster well and is good on ceilings. Use steel scouring ball for removing from intricate mouldings and uneven surfaces etc. beams.
